A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) can help prevent electrocution. If a person’s body starts to receive a shock, the GFCI senses this and cuts off the power before he/she can get injured.

According to the National Electrical Code, a “ground fault” is a conducting connection (whether intentional or accidental) between any electric conductor and any conducting material that is grounded or that may become grounded. Electricity always wants to find a path to the ground. In a ground fault, electricity has found a path to ground, but it is a path the electricity was never intended to be on, such as through a person’s body.

Because of this potential for shock, GFCI protection is used to protect human life.

Note: AFCIs should not be confused with GFCIs. While both AFCIs and GFCIs are important safety devices, they have different functions. AFCIs are intended to address fire hazards; GFCIs address shock hazards.

The Littelfuse SIR Series is designed for industrial applications requiring rugged reliable operation. Provides an optically isolated, high capacity, solid-state output, with power switching capability up to 20A steady state, 200A inrush. Zero voltage switching SIR2 extends the life of an incandescent lamp up to 10 times. Random switching SIR1 is ideal for inductive loads. When fully insulated female terminals are used on the connection wires, the system meets the requirements for touch-proof connections.

Operation:

The solid-state output is located between terminals 1 and 3, and is normally open or normally closed without control voltage applied to terminals 4 and 5. When control voltage is applied to terminals 4 and 5, the solid-state output opens or closes respectively. Reset: Removing control voltage resets the output. The unit is also reset if output voltage is removed.

The Q'Mark CWH 3150F replaces the Q'Mark CWH3150 with a new styles grill. The heater itself remains the same dependable electric wall heater before the aesthetic upgrade.

The Qmark CWH3000 series can be used in residential, commercial or industrial areas that need forced air heat for comfort. The QMark series CWH comes in wattages from 1500 to 4800 or 1.5 kw - 4.8 kw. The AC voltage choices are 120, 208, 240, 277, 347 and 600.  The CWH 3150F is 120 volts AC and 1.5 kw. There are no DC units available. 

The Q'Mark CWH3150F will preform exceptionally well in hotel foyers, restaurant vestibules, department store hallways, fast food entryways, commercial showrooms, mechanical rooms, medical offices, basements and offices. Not an outdoor heater.

ATC 365 Long Ranger Timer

The ATC 365C Timer is microprocessor-based digital timer with three rotary knobs for setting and adjustment of the Preset. The Preset can be any three-digit value from .01 Sec to 999 Hrs. The Decimal and Range are switch selectable. The high-intensity blue vacuum fluorescent display is DIP switch selectable to Timeup or Timedown. Two heavy-duty 7A DPDT relays provide instantaneous, interval or delayed output control. Plug-in panel mounting allows easy replacement without the removal of field wiring.
COMPUTATION: Through its internal microcomputer, the 365C keeps track of the set point throughout the time cycle. Whenever there is a change in set point, even during a cycle, it instantly re-computes the time remaining and accurately determines time-out. This unique capability is especially valuable in the time-down modes as it allows you to shorten a cycle without loss of accuracy.
POSITIVE RESET TIME AND PULSE LENGTH: Digitally clocked by the microcomputer, the 365C’s reset time is consistently of the same duration, regardless of variations in line voltage, power supply or time cycle. As a result, the 365C is not subject to false reset from momentary power interruptions (less than 30 ms). When the 365C operates in repeat-cycle mode, the output pulse is also digitally clocked so that both its occurrence and duration are consistent.
WIDE RANGE: Each 365C Long-Ranger covers the overall span of 0.01 sec. to 999 hrs., in nine switch-selected ranges of 0 to 9.99,99.9 or 999 sec., min. or hrs. The timer can be optimized within any selected range simply by removing appropriate selector knobs (e.g. with the timer in the 9.99 sec. range, you can obtain a tamper-proof span of 0.99 by setting the left selector at 0 and removing the knob).
PROGRAMMABLE DISPLAY: Depending on the position of an internal jumper, the 365C’s three-digit cycle progress display will time UP to or DOWN from the set point; after time-out, it will either STOP or GO (i.e. display the time elapsed after time-out). To the right of the three-digit display, a timing bar “–” blinks once per second during the timing cycle and rapidly after time-out. At left, a marker “” turns on when the delayed relay is energized. The 365C is also available without display but with a pilot light that blinks once per second during the cycle and rapidly after time-out.
NOISE IMMUNITY: The 365C has formidable defenses against noise: transformer power supply, full-wave bridges, buffered logic. Furthermore its microcomputer detects; and rejects; noise pulses that manage to penetrate its defenses. No industrial timer has ever offered greater noise immunity.
RELIABILITY AND RUGGEDNESS: ATC firmly believes that no industrial timer has ever achieved a higher level of reliability and ruggedness. The 365C’s electronic components have no moving parts and are assembled, virtually without hand wiring, from computer-tested circuit boards. Its few mechanical components have been selected for reliable service; the two load relays have a life expectancy of 100,000,000 operations and heavy-duty contacts rated at 7 amps; and the three rotary set point selector switches exhibit extremely low wear.
COMPACT, PLUG-IN AND DUST-TIGHT: Packaged in a 72mm2 DIN housing, the 365C occupies 40% less panel space than conventional timers. It is a true plug-in timer that can be replaced in seconds without disturbing housing or wiring. The 365C is also fully gasketed and O-ring sealed to be dust and water-tight.
SELF DIAGNOSTICS: The time will display “FAIL” anytime there is a problem or the knobs are in between digits.

High Quality, Coiled Alloy Resistor Wire is uniformly spaced over the width and length of the strip heater to assure even heat distribution.
Resistor Wire is Embedded in specially formulated, high-grade refractory mate- rial which both insulates the resistor and transfers heat rapidly to the sheath.


Refractory is then Compressed to Rock- Hardness and high density under tremen- dous hydraulic pressure to maximize heat transfer from coil to sheath. Elements are oven cured at high temperatures to semi- vitrify and mature the refractory.
Maximum Heat Transfer, from the instant the element is first energized, is provided by the high emissivity black oxide finish. El- ements with shiny surfaces do not transfer heat as well.

Strip Heaters can have parallel terminals, one terminal at each end and offset terminals, the most common.

Housings can be purchased for the terminals as an options.

Strip Heaters ~ Watlow >> Chromalox

Sords Electric can provide Strip heaters.

Strip Heaters are used to heat a surface and should be clamped or banded to the surface.
The most commoN strips are 1.5 inches wide and up to about 36 inches in length and have offset terminals, meaning two terminals at one end but offset to each other. Strip heater are usually 120 volts or 240 volts.  Wattages are from 150 to 2250.
