Mineral Insulated (MI) Band/Barrel Heaters

The MI band heater from Watlow® is a high-performance heater. The band heater's performance and name are derived from Watlow's exclusive mineral insulation—a material with much higher thermal conductivity than mica and hard ceramic insulators used in conventional heaters. A thin layer of the “high” thermally conductive MI material is used to electrically insulate the element wire from the inside diameter of the heater sheath. A thicker, “low” thermally conductive layer backs up the element wire directing the heat inward toward the part being heated. 

High thermal conductivity of MI and low mass construction provides rapid response to temperature control and avoids thermal lag.

Operating temperatures up to 1400°F (760°C) allows safe melting of resins such as PEEK™, Teflon®, Ultem® and Zytel®

Higher watt densities contribute to faster heat-up and throughput for increased productivity

Stainless steel cover and side fold design resists contamination from overflow of plastic or other free-flowing materials

Attached clamp bars eliminates cumbersome clamping straps, making installation easier

The MI nozzle heater from Watlow is a high-performance heater. The nozzle heater's performance and name are derived from Watlow's exclusive mineral insulation—a material with a much higher thermal conductivity than mica and hard ceramic insulators used in conventional heaters.

A thin layer of the “high” thermal conductive MI material is used to electrically insulate the element wire from the inside diameter of the heater sheath. A thicker, “low” thermal conductivity layer backs up the element wire, directing the heat inward toward the heated part. The result is more efficient heat transfer—a performance solution lowering element wire temperatures and increasing heater life.

• Maximum voltage up to 240V

The Watlow WATROD tubular heating elements come in either single or double ended termination styles.  The versatile and economical WATROD heating element fem Watlow lends s itself to virtually the range of immersion and air heating applications.

The single ended WATROD tubular design has both terminals at one end.  The opposite end is sealed. Flexible lead wires are 12 inches (305mm) crimp connected to the terminal pin and have a silicone-impreganted fiberglass over sleeves.

The double ended WATROD, with its round cross-sectional geometry is highly adaptable for bending- especially when bending is done in the field. Watlow's doulbe-ended MULTICOIL tubular elements offer various combinations of resistor coils and thermocouples inside one sheath. They have the ability to sense the heater's internal temperature accurately every time, or offer three phase capability in one element.

Both Single and double ended WATRODs share many construction features delivering long life- the resistance wire is centered in the heater sheath and electrically insulated  with compacted, high grade magnesium oxide, MgO, for superior heating performance.

WATROD heating elements have a variety of mounting and termination options making them highly popular among industrial customers.

Features and Benefits

Precision wound nickel-chromium resistance wire that distributes heat evenly to the sheath for optimum heater performance.
Silicon resin seals to protect against moisture contamination and is rated to 221ºF.
MgO insulation filled sheath to maximize dielectric strength, heat transfer and heater life.
Standard sheath materials include Steel, 304/316 stainless Steel, alloy 800/840 and alloy 600.
The 53 standard bend formations allows forming the heating element to the application and includes spirals, compound bends and multi-axis/multi-plane configurations.
Stainless Steel Studs are fusion welded to the terminal pins for mechanical strength.

Q'Mark MUH Electric Unit Heaters

Sords Electric and Q'Mark keep you Warm with MUH Unit Heaters

Modular Unit Heaters from Q'Mark or MUH Heaters have been the industry standard for decades since their inception at Chromalox Comfort Conditioning. The Q'Mark MUH is the most specified and used unit heater for commercial applications. The MUH comes in KW sizes from 3 kw to 50 kw (10,230  to 170, 500 BTUs) and voyages from 208 - 600.

Common applications for the MUH are factories, warehouses, garages, stores, shipping rooms, power stations, aircraft hangers, convention halls and sports arenas.

Heaters are made from heavy gauge die-formed steel housing with the front and back case in t neutral grey color while the wrap around steel section is Statuary Bronze cooler as are the Stainless Steel louvers.

The heaters include an automatic reset linear thermal cutout for over heat protection and the automatic fan delay keeps blowing after the elements have turned off to distribute the heat.

Watlow 375 Strip Heaters

Watlow 375 Strip heaters are named for their .375 inch thickness and is capable of high temperatures and high watt densities.  The strip heater come in offset, parallel and split  (end-end) terminals.  The offset configuration is the most common know as OT. The coiled nickel-chromium wires are placed in the center of the heater and then imbedded with magnesium oxide (Mg)) insulation and compacted into a solid mass to hold the element in place and provide electrical insulation. MgO is an excellent heat conductor with high dielectric strength.  The outer sheath is aluminized steel or Stainless Steel.

Sheath temperatures to 1100 and 1200.  Watt densities to 100 watts per square inch.
UL approved to 240VAC and CSA approved to 600VAC.
