CARLO GAVAZZI is pleased to announce the launch of our new Capacitive Proximity Sensors with Integrated IO-Link communications. Building upon our existing range of sensors, these new sensors are housed in durable AISI316L stainless steel housings or PTFE Teflon housings for high chemical resistance.

Based on our 4th generation TRIPLESHIELD™ sensors, the CA18 and the CA30 Series sensors represent the ideal solution for industrial automation equipment in applications where the sensing performance needs to be constantly and accurately monitored and logged.

Besides the full range of technical features provided by our capacitive sensor families, the IO-Link communication mode enables additional advanced functionalities such as: QoR (Quality of Run), QoT (Quality of Teach) and diagnostic parameters. With IO-Link each sensor becomes fully programmable and customizable, allowing more than half a million setting combinations.

The Capacitive Proximity Sensors with Integrated IO-Link feature:

  • M18 and M30 in AISI316L stainless steel or PTFE housings
  • Programmable sensing distance and hysteresis
  • Sensing mode: single point, two point and windows mode
  • Logic functions: AND, OR, XOR and 'Gated SR/FF'
  • Timer functions: ON, OFF and One shot

    The Watlow WATROD tubular heating elements come in either single or double ended termination styles.  The versatile and economical WATROD heating element fem Watlow lends s itself to virtually the range of immersion and air heating applications.

    The single ended WATROD tubular design has both terminals at one end.  The opposite end is sealed. Flexible lead wires are 12 inches (305mm) crimp connected to the terminal pin and have a silicone-impreganted fiberglass over sleeves.

    The double ended WATROD, with its round cross-sectional geometry is highly adaptable for bending- especially when bending is done in the field. Watlow's doulbe-ended MULTICOIL tubular elements offer various combinations of resistor coils and thermocouples inside one sheath. They have the ability to sense the heater's internal temperature accurately every time, or offer three phase capability in one element.

    Both Single and double ended WATRODs share many construction features delivering long life- the resistance wire is centered in the heater sheath and electrically insulated  with compacted, high grade magnesium oxide, MgO, for superior heating performance.

    WATROD heating elements have a variety of mounting and termination options making them highly popular among industrial customers.

    *Alloy 800/840 and stainless steel sheath temperatures up to 1200ºF

    Double-Ended WATROD Performance Capabilities

    * Watt Densities up to 120W/inches squared.
    * UL and CSA component recognition up to 600VAC
    *Alloy 800/840 and stainless steel sheath temperatures up to 1600ºF
    * Stainless Steel sheath temperatures up to 1200ºF
    * Steel sheath temperatures up to 750ºF
    * Alloy 800 sheath temperatures up to 1800ºF

    Features and Benefits

    Precision wound nickel-chromium resistance wire that distributes heat evenly to the sheath for optimum heater performance.
    Silicon resin seals to protect against moisture contamination and is rated to 221ºF.
    MgO insulation filled sheath to maximize dielectric strength, heat transfer and heater life.
    Standard sheath materials include Steel, 304/316 stainless Steel, alloy 800/840 and alloy 600.
    The 53 standard bend formations allows forming the heating element to the application and includes spirals, compound bends and multi-axis/multi-plane configurations.
    Stainless Steel Studs are fusion welded to the terminal pins for mechanical strength.

    TVSS = SPD ~ Surge Protection

    As of September 29, 2009, the newest UL 1449 3rd Edition safety standard for Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) is in effect. If you are responsible for protecting critical electrical systems, you need to know about these changes!

    At a Glance the changes are:
    • Suppressed Voltage Rating vs. Voltage Protection Rating - The SPD’s let-through voltage is now measured as it is subjected to an IEEE defined 6kV/3kA “combination waveform".
    • Nominal Discharge Current (In) - The SPD’s Nominal Discharge Current capability, up to 20 kA, is now reported with the suppressor’s specifications and on its labeling.
    • Suppressor Categories - The new standard categorizes SPDs as one of four designated types based upon whether or not they are a component, and where within an electrical distribution they are to be installed.
    • TVSS is now SPD - The term identifying a surge suppressor as Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor (TVSS) was retired and will now be called a Surge Protective Device (SPD).
    • Extended Scope - 3rd Edition UL now governs suppression products designed to protect on electrical circuits up to 1000 V.
