Carlo Gavazzi Single Compressor Soft Starters

Carlo Gavazzi Single Compressor Soft Starters from Sords Elecric

CARLO GAVAZZI has launched the RSBS Series, a compact, single-phase soft-starter. The RSBS is designed for single-phase compressors and is an ideal solution in single phase voltage networks that are prone to voltage fluctuations. The high inrush current caused by starting compressors in these conditions can cause light to flicker, fuses to trip, generators to stall, and other disturbances.

The Carlo Gavazzi RSBS uses a current limiting algorithm to reduce compressor start current by more than 50% when compared to Direct Online (DOL) starters. Its control algorithm automatically detects when the compressor reaches full speed to make sure that the internal bypass relay switches ON when the current is at an optimum level. The RSBS can limit inrush currents up to 45 Amps under balanced conditions with a maximum ramp-up time of 600 ms. Its special HP function ensures the compressor receives enough starting torque by allowing a maximum current of 80 Amps even when the pressures are not balanced.

Features of the Carlo Gavazzi RSBS Single-Phase Soft Starter include:

  • Single-phase 195.5 to 264.5 VAC, 50/60 Hz operating voltage range
  • Current-limiting algorithm reduces inrush current by more than 50%
  • Rated operational current: 37 Arms
  • 4.4 kW / 5 HP rating at 40°C
  • No user adjustments required
  • Integrated diagnostics detect voltage dips, network interruptions and welded relay contacts
  • Ideal for scroll compressors and piston compressors
  • Anti-short cycling function with built-in delay between starts
  • Auxiliary relay output with alarm status LED indication
  • Choose from several different start capacitor sizes including an option for an external capacitor
  • Agency approvals: cULus Listing and CE certification

The Carlo Gavazzi RSBS Series are the best choice for increasing reliability, reducing network interruptions, and improving compressor operation.

354B350Q30PX 240 volt 9999 Count Counter

354C Series Shawnee II High Speed Counter

ATC High Speed 354 Counter

Features:
  • 4 Digit Display
  • Easy to Set
  • Noise Immunity
  • Plug-In & Dust-Tight
  • Control Versatility
  • High Repeat Accuracy
The solid-state ATC 354 is manufactured from a series of computer-tested plug-in circuit boards and assembled virtually without hand wiring. Because it has no moving parts in its logic circuits, its life expectancy is practically unlimited. Even the load relay—the 354’s only significant mechanical component—has a life expectancy of 100,000,000 operations (no load), while the optional solid-state switch module has a virtually unlimited life expectancy. As a result, the 354 achieves an overall reliability that surpasses even the high level achieved by previous Shawnee counters.
CYCLE PROGRESS INDICATION: The ATC Shawnee 354 indicating counter provides cycle progress indication on a four-digit display located immediately above the digital setting number wheels. While the non-indicating Model 354C does not provide true cycle progress indication, its pilot light signals when the counter is running.
EASY TO SET AT ALL TIMES: The ATC Shawnee counter is easily and accurately set even with work gloves on. Push any of its four toggle levers in any sequence until the number you want appears above it. You can decrease as well as increase each number by pushing the levers up or down. You can change the setting at any time, even during a cycle.
NOISE IMMUNITY: The 354 does not have to be shielded: its transformer power supply, full-wave bridges, buffered logic and other design characteristics render it immune to the electrical noise that is sometimes encountered in industrial environments thus eliminating false starts and reset due to voltage spikes.
PLUG-IN AND DUST-TIGHT: All ATC 354 counters feature true plug-in design and are dust-tight from the front of panel. 100% ACCURATE AND BOUNCE-PROOF: The repeat accuracy of the ATC Shawnee 354 is 100% at all rated speeds, even in the presence of contact bounce. The ATC 354 has two selectable levels of bounce suppression: a normal level which eliminates false counts at speeds up to 500 per second with reed switch inputs, and 5,000 per second with DC voltage pulses; and a high level, for speeds up to 80 per second with high-bounce contact closures (relays, precision switches, etc.).
HOUSING, IT OCCUPIES 40% LESS: Packaged in a 72mm2 DIN-size housing, the 354 occupies 40% less panel space than previous IC counters. Modern production and assembly techniques have substantially reduced manufacturing costs resulting in a 45% cost saving.
CONTROL VERSATILITY: The ATC 354 operates either as a repeat cycle pulse generator or in single-cycle interval or delayed mode. You choose the kind of control action you want by installing jumpers on the terminal block. It also provides a choice of control output, a standard plug-in SPDT relay or an optional SPST solid-state switch module…plus an independent and separate DC output signal at Terminal 6.

OPERATION
The ATC Shawnee 354 operates on a digital logic circuit with three main elements: input circuits which allow it to count various types of DC pulses; a read-only-memory (ROM) whose output is set by the counter’s digital setting number wheels; and a comparator that continuously examines the outputs of the input circuit and ROM. When the start (ready/reset) signal is on, the input circuit begins to count incoming pulses, feeding the total count continuously to the comparator. When input circuit output exactly equals ROM output, the ATC 354 counts out. At that instant, the input circuit automatically turns itself off even if the start signal remains on; it is therefore not necessary to turn off the pulses externally. At the same instant, the 354 provides one of three load control actions depending on how it is wired (see Typical Applications). When the 354 is wired for interval operation, the counter’s output device (either the standard SPDT relay or the optional SPST switch module) is energized from the start to the end of the count cycle; so is the DC output at terminal 6.

Proportional Output Controllers by Carl Gavazzi

Carlo Gavazzi RG2P and RGC3P Proportional Output Controllers.
(Motor Starters - Temperature Control, Light Dimming)

CARLO GAVAZZI Inc. is proud to announce its new generation of proportional output 3-phase controllers, the RGC2P and RGC3P Series. This series covers 3-phase solid state switching controllers that deliver output power in proportion to the control input voltage or current as well as external potentiometer. The RGC2P Series consists of a 3-phase, 2-pole switching device which offers an economical means of switching, because it only switches L1 and L3. The RGC3P Series consists of 3-phase, 3- pole switching devices. Various switching modes are available to cater for different application needs, such as phase angle switching for light dimming; full cycle switching for precise temperature control and a soft starting version that prevents high inrush currents associated with loads with high cold/hot resistance ratio.
The RGC2P and RGC3P Series are available in two frame sizes: 54mm or 70mm wide. RGC2P, the 2-pole switching device, offers four current ratings of 15, 25, 40 and 75AAC per pole. While RGC3P, the 3-pole switching device, offers three current ratings of 20, 30 and 65Amps per pole. The optional monitoring feature offers the possibility of detecting the status of mains and load, as well as for internal controller failures: open or short circuit and overheating. Alarming is implemented with an LED indication and a relay output.

SWITCH

A Switch is a device for making, breaking, or changing the connections in an electrical circuit. This is very simple, how you make the switch switch though is the fun part and interesting part of our buisness. Sords Electric has all kinds of switches for dong all kinds of things. We can also call valves swtiches, which stop or start or change the flow of a media such as water, gas, or air. Our industrial automated lifestyle relies on switches to get everything done, from opening up garage doors, turning on lights, washing clothes, traffic control, water treatment and making everything that our industrial world demands. Without a switch or valve, nothing could be "automatic."

Every switch needs an actuation device. A person can be this device such as turning on a light or coffee maker. Upon doing so you push a button or move a lever to make the switch switch. In the automation world, the actuation is done electrically; a coil or solenoid. However, this acuation also has to be triggered by a sensor. This gives us the automatic switch needed for automation and control.

Sords Electric has switches that use light, sound, temperature, flow, magnets, current, voltage, pressure, and even hands to switch the switch. Names for these types of switches are photoelectric switches, laser switches, ultrasonic switches, temperature switches, flow switches, proximity switches, GFCIs or current switches, contactors and relays, pressure switches and control mats, and manual disconnect switches.

In further posts we can discuss each type of switch and how they function.

Sords Electric History

In the 1920s Sords Electric got its start in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on Front Street. The store supplied lighting, appliances and repair services. some of the products sold were GE lighting, Westinghouse switches and relays, Stiffel lamps.

Irma Sords ran the store for about 60 years. However, in 1960 Robert Sords started the industrial branch in Cleveland Ohio as the distributor arm of the representative firm Anderson-Bolds. Some of the first products were Ward Leonard contactors and Burgess MicroSwitches.

In 2003 the internet store was launched and products have slowly been added to the website, including GFCIs, Mercury Contactors, Photo electric switches, proximity switches, laser switches, timers, counters, solid state relays, electric heaters, Temperture Controls, Motors and Drives and power supplies. Manfacturers include Meltric, ATC, Carlo Gavazzi, Fenwal, Bosch, MDI, Toshiba, TECO, Fenwal and Tapeswitch Safety Mats.
